Kayamkulam Municipality has intensified measures against the installation of unauthorized advertisement boards, banners and flex boards within the municipal area, based on the directions of the Hon’ble High Court.

Individuals, organisations and commercial establishments are requested to obtain the necessary permissions before installing advertisement boards or banners and to comply with the applicable rules and regulations.

As part of the enforcement measures, unauthorized boards and banners installed in public places and other regulated areas will be removed, and appropriate legal action may be taken against those responsible.

Kayamkulam Municipality has joined ‘Toofan 2.0 – The Narcotic Hunt’, an intensified campaign aimed at preventing drug abuse and strengthening public participation in the fight against narcotic substances.

The statewide inauguration of Toofan 2.0 was held on 28 September 2026. As part of the programme, the state-level inauguration was live-streamed at the Kayamkulam Municipal Town Hall, enabling municipal representatives, councillors and the public to participate.

The campaign is being implemented through the coordinated efforts of the Local Self-Government Institutions, Kerala Police and Excise Department. Various awareness and preventive activities will be carried out with the participation of the public and community organisations.

The initiative aims to create greater awareness, particularly among young people, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage community participation in preventing the spread of narcotic substances.

Kayamkulam Municipality will continue to support and participate in activities under ‘Toofan 2.0’ in coordination with the Police and Excise Departments.

A police case has been registered in connection with an incident in which a dead cow was brought to the slaughterhouse under Kayamkulam Municipality for the purpose of processing it as meat. The municipal authorities initiated the necessary inspections and follow-up action in connection with the incident.

Based on information that a dead cow had been brought in a vehicle with an attempt to process it as meat, an inspection was conducted by the municipal authorities and the Health Department. Subsequently, the matter was reported to the police, and a case was registered against those involved.

The concerned authorities stated that such illegal activities will not be permitted within the municipal limits and that necessary measures will be taken to ensure public health, hygiene, and food safety.
